In The Beginning God…
By Allen Edge
Quite often we look back on our lives and decisions and realize how important the beginning was to the end results. In addition, we quite often do not consider the significance of our beginnings at the beginning. I wish I had known how the impact of a less than well thought out beginning would set in motion a series of complicated and troublesome endings. It is written: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) From this scripture alone we can see how the pattern for future existence will be laid out. If we believe that God is indeed the author of all that exists, then we can logically conclude that God would be the best reference for operating effectively in His creation.
It is written: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and
female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27) Once again we have a scriptural confirmation of God as a creative author. Once again we can logically conclude that God would be the best reference for operating effectively within the species known as mankind. However, we know that mankind has not historically been a great fan of logic and common sense. It is written: “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' " "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." (Genesis 3:1-5) This scriptural account demonstrates how mankind has always had the propensity to heed secondary sources of council regarding God’s creation and this pattern has faithfully led to devastating results.
If you are like me, you are seeking the best way to walk out your God given assignment in the Earth realm before you are called home. If you believe that God has made and assigned you to establish His Kingdom in the Earth as it is in Heaven, then you must continuously consult Him for instructions. God may speak to you through a variety of ways, even through your enemies, but He is always speaking to us. Trust Him. Seek Him. It is written: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
When you are bombarded by the cacophony of the world’s voice, including your own, remember it is written: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.” (Proverbs 3:5-7) It is also written: “So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” ( Matthew 6:31-33)
So remember if you have questions about your marriage? “In the beginning God…”
finances? “In the beginning God…”
career? “In the beginning God…”
health? “In the beginning God…”
ministry? “In the beginning God…”
God almighty is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Selah.
