Many of you know that my husband and I have co-authored a book together entitled
Truth and Intimacy: A Couple's Journal. Well, after a very long wait and many edits, etc, we finally have them in hand. Well, actually I should say in box.
We're trying to make room for the new by discounting and moving out the old. For those of you who have not purchased copies of
The Rape of Innocence: Taking Captivity Captive and
Becoming: My Personal Memoirs, now is you…

I've met a lot of people who've written manuscript after manuscript, but never pursue publishing past that point. They are afraid of rejection, afraid of success and afraid of failure. Fear is the biggest enemy to most writers. It paralyzes them at the most crucial point of their would-be career.
Unfortunately, the publishing industry is filled to the brim with books. Last year, it is estimated that over 400,000 titles were published. 400,000 titles! This year, it may be many more above that nu…

As the founder and VP of a legitimate publishing company, very rarely do I open up about the challenges associated with running a business, particularly a publishing company. So, here are the facts, as I see them. So, maybe I should say here are my experiences.
When I first started, I was on my own. I wasn't married yet, and barely had enough energy to get out of bed, but I felt commissioned to help publish material that matters, that changes lives. I had on rose-colored glasses for sure. I had…

There's little doubt that the traditional publishing industry has associated a certain stigma to self-publishing. It does affect many things, and make getting over normal obstacles that much more difficult most times. However, there is also a benefit to self publishing.
When you self publish, you have complete design and editorial discretion over your book. While that can be positive, it can also be a detriment. How so? Publishers aren't stupid. Neither are readers. When you don't have their ex…

Last night, I received an email from someone named Bethany. She sent me a photo of herself. I cried instantly. She was all swollen and battered. She looked like she was once a very beautiful white woman with dark hair and green eyes.…
