- About Me:
- I've been published since the 1970s, mostly in the small press, but have also appeared in Asimov's (fiction and poetry), Full Spectrum (Bantam, 1988; fiction), and the Harvard Business Review (poetry; reprinted in the widely-taught case "Jones Ironworks, Inc." by Professor John K. Shank). Finalist, 1985 John W. Campbell Award for best new science fiction writer of the year. Reached preliminary ballot for a 1989 Nebula Award. Four-time nominee for the Rhysling Award for year's best speculative poetry. First-place prizes include the 1983 New England Science Fiction Association Short Story Award, the "Save Our Earth" award in the 2004 contests of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, and others. Edited Star*Line, journal of the Science Fiction Poetry Association, from 1986-88. Taught creative writing at the Cambridge and Dorchester Centers for Adult Education in Massachusetts; and at the Art Center of Citrus County (FL) and the 2008 Florida Writers Association conference. I've been a reader, panelist, and workshop leader at various conventions, and run a one-person communications services business from my home in central Florida. My first published novel, Deviations: Covenant, was released in 2007 by Aisling Press. I've also exhibited and sold photography and mixed-media art, and enjoy performing spoken word and a cappella extemporaneous scat-singing at open mics.
